White Path Creek Distillery: A Fun, Laid-Back Stop in Ellijay
If you’re looking to mix things up on an Ellijay trip, White Path Creek Distillery is a fun and easy stop to add to your itinerary. We stopped in without much planning and ended up having a great time. It’s the kind of place that doesn’t take itself too seriously—and that’s part of the charm.
A Relaxed, Come-As-You-Are Vibe
White Path Creek Distillery has a casual, rustic feel that immediately puts you at ease. The tasting room feels more like a local hangout than a formal distillery. There’s no pressure and no rush. You’re encouraged to taste, ask questions, and enjoy the experience at your own pace.
The Tasting Experience

The tasting is $16 for all-you-can-taste, which is an excellent value. There’s a wide variety available, including flavored brandies, vodkas, rums, and moonshines. It’s a great option if you like trying a little bit of everything instead of committing to just one pour.
The setup is informal and flexible. You can sample what interests you most and circle back to favorites.
Frozen Drinks, Your Way
One of the most fun parts of the visit was the slushie machines. You can add any of the flavored alcohols into the frozen drinks, which makes it easy to customize your pour. It’s playful, refreshing, and a nice change from straight spirits—especially if you’re visiting with a group.
A Warm Welcome from Van Fields

Van Fields—one of the owners of White Path Creek Distillery—was the one who helped us during our visit, and he was an absolute hoot. Friendly, engaging, and easy to talk to, he made the tasting even more enjoyable. It felt less like a formal tasting and more like hanging out with someone who genuinely loves what he does.
If the name sounds familiar, that might be because Van has appeared on Moonshiners. Even with that background, the experience never felt showy or gimmicky. Van was down-to-earth, welcoming, and happy to chat—whether it was about the spirits, the tasting, or just having a good time.
Before we left, we picked up a bottle of blueberry brandy to take home, served in a classic mason jar that felt perfectly on brand. Van even signed the bottle for us, a small but memorable touch that made the visit feel extra personal.
Final Pour

White Path Creek Distillery is a great reminder that not every stop needs to be polished to be memorable. Between the generous tasting, customizable frozen drinks, and Van keeping things fun, it’s an affordable and approachable spot that’s well worth a visit.
If you’re spending time in Ellijay and want something casual to balance out winery visits, this distillery is an easy yes. You can find current tasting details and hours on their official website.
