Say Yes to the Dress in Santorini: My Flying Dress Experience
If you’ve ever seen those dreamy photos of colorful dresses flowing against Santorini’s iconic blue domes, you’ve probably wondered what it’s like to do one yourself. During our recent trip to Greece, three friends and I decided to say yes to the dress and book a Santorini flying dress photoshoot!
And let me tell you, there’s a little more to getting those picture-perfect shots than you might think!
Four Friends, Four Dresses, One Iconic Backdrop
Our morning started bright and early in Oia, with an 8:00 AM meeting time at Lolita’s Gelato, just behind the main bus stop.
One of the best parts? The dresses were included in our photoshoot package, so there was no need to bring our own!
Now, if you’re picturing a glamorous dressing room, think again! We changed into our flowing gowns in a pop-up tent before heading out to capture those iconic Santorini views.
With four of us participating, we had a mix of gorgeous, colorful dresses that looked incredible against the whitewashed buildings, blue domes, and sparkling Aegean Sea.
Behind the Scenes of a Santorini Flying Dress Photoshoot

Here’s something those beautiful Instagram photos don’t show you: the walking!
Our entire photoshoot lasted about two hours, and getting to those postcard-worthy locations required navigating Oia’s narrow pathways, stairs, and uneven surfaces. And you’re doing it while wearing a dress with yards of flowing fabric!
One of the biggest perks of booking a professional photoshoot was getting access to some incredible photo spots that the average visitor wouldn’t normally be able to reach. We were able to capture those iconic Santorini views from some truly spectacular locations.
The photography team guided us throughout the experience, helping position the dresses and capture those dramatic, flowing shots.
At the end of our session, the team shared a few videos with us, and we were able to select our favorite photos to be professionally finished.
Was it a little bit of work? Absolutely. Was it worth it? Just look at the photos!
Tips for Your Santorini Flying Dress Photoshoot

If you’re considering booking your own Santorini flying dress photoshoot, here are a few things I’d recommend:
- Wear comfortable shoes. Seriously! You’ll be walking between locations, so bring shoes or slippers that are easy to slip on and off.
- Bring water. Even with an early morning start, Santorini can get warm.
- Pack light. You’ll want to keep personal belongings to a minimum.
- Book an early session. Our 8:00 AM start was a great way to get going before Oia became too crowded.
- Check what’s included. Our package included the dresses, a two-hour photoshoot, a few videos, and the opportunity to select our favorite photos for professional finishing.
- Have fun with it! Don’t worry about perfect poses. Let the photographers guide you and enjoy the moment.
The Final Pour
Would I recommend booking a Santorini flying dress photoshoot? Absolutely!
It’s a little glamorous, a little adventurous, and definitely one of those experiences that makes for incredible vacation memories. Getting four friends together for a morning of flowing dresses and iconic Greek island views made it even more fun.
For just two hours of our vacation, we walked away with some incredible photos, fun behind-the-scenes videos, and memories we’ll have for years to come.
