Norwegian Bliss Review: Super Bowl & Valentine’s at Sea

Sailing shortly after her January 2025 refurbishment, this Norwegian Bliss review covers our Super Bowl and Valentine’s cruise experience from start to finish. We boarded the Norwegian Bliss with a group of 11 and quickly realized this sailing would be equal parts high-energy and celebratory.

One day, we were watching football with hundreds of fans and drinks in hand. A few days later, we were sipping Valentine’s cocktails at sea. In between? Theme nights, live music, Broadway-style shows, and balcony mornings overlooking the ocean. This cruise reminded me exactly why I enjoy sailing with Norwegian Cruise Line.

Here’s my full Norwegian Bliss review, including what it’s like sailing after the 2025 refurbishment, cruising with a group of 11, and celebrating holidays at sea.

A Little History of the Norwegian Bliss

The Norwegian Bliss debuted in 2018 as part of Norwegian’s Breakaway-Plus class. Originally designed for Alaska itineraries, she now sails popular routes including the Mexican Riviera and Caribbean.

Most recently, the ship was refurbished in January 2025, and it shows.

Public spaces felt fresh and modern. Finishes were updated. Everything looked clean and well-maintained. Even with a full sailing over Super Bowl weekend, and a group of 11 trying to coordinate plans, the ship never felt worn or chaotic.

The refresh definitely gave her that newer-ship feel.

Cruising with a Group of 11

Cruising with a large group can either be seamless or stressful.

On the Norwegian Bliss, it leaned seamlessly.

Because there are no assigned dining times, it was easy for us to split up during the day and regroup in the evenings. Some people went to trivia. Some relaxed by the pool. Others grabbed drinks or explored different lounges. Then we’d meet up for dinner or a show.

That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons I enjoy Norwegian’s style of cruising. It works especially well for friend groups and mixed personalities.

Our Cabin: Balcony, Mid-Ship (My Go-To)

I will always choose a balcony mid-ship when possible.

The location helps with movement throughout the ship, and I personally prefer mid-ship for stability. Quiet balcony mornings before meeting up with the group were some of my favorite moments.

The cabin layout was efficient, storage was solid, and everything felt clean and well cared for.

Free at Sea: What We Included

We sailed with Norwegian’s Free at Sea perks, which added a lot of value — especially for a group sailing.

Here’s what we had:

  • 2 x Wi-Fi Package (150 minutes each)
  • 2 x Specialty Dining (3 meals each)
  • 2 x Unlimited Open Bar Package
  • 1 x Excursion Credit ($50 for each port)

The Unlimited Open Bar Package absolutely got its use, especially over Super Bowl weekend.

The Wi-Fi minutes were enough to check in, post a few updates, and coordinate plans with our group.

And having three specialty dining meals included made it easy to plan a few nicer group dinners without constantly thinking about cost.

Entertainment: A Standout

Entertainment is where the Norwegian Bliss really impressed.

The Shows we saw:

  • Jersey Boys
  • Icons

Both were in their final run onboard, which made it feel special.

Jersey Boys delivered strong vocals and polished production. The cast was fantastic.

Icons felt like a high-energy concert featuring tributes to legendary artists. Big voices. Great staging. A packed theater.

The production value across the board felt elevated.

Theme Nights & Deck Parties

One thing Norwegian does really well? High-energy themed parties.

During our sailing, we had:

  • 80’s Night
  • 90’s Night
  • Glow Party
  • Latin Night
  • Nashville Night
  • 70’s Night

The deck transformed each evening with music, lighting, and themed energy that pulled people in. Some guests went all out with outfits. Others just showed up ready to dance.

With a group of 11, these nights became built-in group activities. No complicated planning. Just meet on deck and enjoy.

The Glow Party especially felt like a full-on dance club at sea. High energy, packed dance floor, and a lot of fun.

If you like themed nights and interactive energy, this ship delivers.

Live Music (My Favorite Part)

The live bands were excellent:

  • Upgrade
  • Siglo
  • Temperature

They rotated venues throughout the ship and at the pool, which kept the vibe changing nightly. Some evenings felt like a dance party. Other nights leaned more lounge-style.

With a group this size, there was always somewhere that matched the mood.

Super Bowl at Sea

Watching the Super Bowl on a cruise ship is a full experience.

Big screens. Packed venues. Jerseys everywhere. Drinks flowing. People cheering across decks.

It felt like a floating sports bar with ocean views.

For a group cruise, it was the perfect built-in event.

Valentine’s Day at Sea

A few days later, the vibe shifted.

Valentine’s desserts appeared. Themed cocktails showed up on menus. The atmosphere felt softer and a little more romantic.

It was such a fun contrast — high-energy football to Valentine’s at sea.

Cruising over holidays always adds something extra.

Overall Vibe

The Norwegian Bliss feels:

  • Energetic but not overwhelming
  • Modern but approachable
  • Large enough for variety, but still easy to navigate

For couples, friend groups, and larger groups like ours, the flexibility and entertainment options really work. If you’re looking for an honest Norwegian Bliss review that covers entertainment, theme nights, group cruising, and value, this sailing delivered on all fronts.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Excellent live music
  • Strong production shows
  • Fun theme nights
  • Refreshed and modern after January 2025 renovation
  • Flexible dining (great for groups)
  • Good value with Free at Sea perks

Cons

  • Wi-Fi minutes go quickly
  • Popular venues fill up during events (arrive early for big nights)
  • Lounge chairs at the pool get claimed extremely early in the morning

Final Pour

To wrap up this Norwegian Bliss review, would I sail her again?

Absolutely.

Cruising with a group of 11 over Super Bowl and Valentine’s could have felt chaotic. Instead, it felt organized, flexible, and genuinely fun.

Between balcony mornings, themed deck parties, Broadway-level shows, and built-in holiday energy, this sailing checked a lot of boxes.

If you’re planning your first cruise — or just want to be better prepared next time — I’ve shared everything I learned the hard way in this post.

Next up, I’ll break down dining on the Norwegian Bliss, what we loved, what’s worth the upcharge, and what I’d book again.

Cheers, friends. Keep sipping.
