Celebrating National Prosecco Week: Bubbles Deserve More Than a Day

June 2–8 marks National Prosecco Week—and honestly, one day could never be enough. This Italian sparkler is light, lively, and incredibly versatile, so we’re celebrating all week long with our favorite bottles, bubbly cocktails, and a little Prosecco history.

A Sparkling History

National Prosecco Week

Prosecco hails from the Veneto and Friuli regions of northeastern Italy and is made primarily from the Glera grape. Its name comes from the village of Prosecco near Trieste. Unlike Champagne, which undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle, Prosecco uses the Charmat method, where fermentation happens in stainless steel tanks. This process keeps it bright, fresh, and fruit-forward—ideal for warm-weather sipping and spontaneous celebrations.
