Brunch Wines: What to Pour Beyond Mimosas

When it comes to brunch wines, mimosas may be the go-to, but they’re definitely not your only option.

If you’re hosting brunch or heading out with friends this spring, there are so many great wines that pair beautifully with brunch favorites, from eggs and pastries to savory dishes and lighter bites.

If you’re ready to mix things up a bit, here are some of my favorite brunch wines to pour beyond the classic mimosa.

1. Sparkling Wine (Still a Must)

Let’s be honest—bubbles are always a good idea.

Whether you go with Prosecco, Champagne, or a California sparkling, it instantly sets the tone and pairs with just about everything on the table.

Perfect for: eggs, pastries, fruit, and light brunch spreads

2. Rosé

Light, fresh, and endlessly versatile, rosé is one of my favorite brunch picks.

It works just as well with savory dishes as it does with lighter, sweeter options.

Perfect for: quiche, salads, smoked salmon, or charcuterie

3. Sauvignon Blanc

If you want something crisp and refreshing, Sauvignon Blanc is always a win.

Its citrus and herbal notes make it especially great for brighter, veggie-forward dishes.

Perfect for: avocado toast, salads, and herb-based dishes

4. Riesling

Riesling is such an underrated brunch wine.

A slightly off-dry style pairs beautifully with dishes that have a little sweetness or spice.

Perfect for: fruit-forward dishes, glazed meats, or anything with a little kick

5. Pinot Grigio

Light, clean, and easy to drink, Pinot Grigio is a classic crowd-pleaser.

It’s a great option when you want something simple that still pairs well across the board.

Perfect for: lighter brunch menus and mixed groups

6. Light Red (Yes, Really)

Don’t sleep on red wine at brunch.

A light-bodied red like Pinot Noir can actually pair really well with certain dishes and adds a nice variety to your table.

Perfect for: mushroom dishes, breakfast meats, or anything savory

7. Aperol Spritz (Honorable Mention)

Okay, not technically wine—but it deserves a spot.

Light, slightly bitter, and super refreshing, it’s a fun alternative if you want something a little different.

Perfect for: sipping while you snack and socialize

The Final Pour

Brunch is all about keeping things light, fun, and easy—and your wine should be too. While mimosas will always have their place, there are so many other great options that can elevate your brunch without any extra effort.

If you’re hosting and want to make it a little more interactive, you can even turn it into a casual tasting—like I shared in my at-home wine tasting night guide, with easy tips on themes, pairings, and how to set it all up without overcomplicating it

If you’re hosting, try offering one or two of these alongside your usual bubbles and let your guests mix it up.
